I have finished ReadMe Writer and tested it myself until finally I think it's good enough to release the BETA to "private" testers.

Anyone (on these forums) can test this program and the more testers the better.

If you wish to be a tester, post in this topic saying so and also let me know what Windows Version you have, if you don't have windows then I doubt it will work but if you have a Mac or Linux you are free to post here and then you can confirm that it only works on Windows.

The only other thing I would like you to do before you test is go to the original Manual Generator topic and re-download the sample .txt for comparison, I have just recently updated it.

After posting with your OS version, I will PM you the download link. I put BETA in the program just to make sure you know this is not the version I would like to release, while it is very near completion, I wish to get multiple testers before publicly posting it, so don't share the BETA version!

Also as a tester, feel free to give me any comment you can think of, even if it's not a bug but something visual or with the layout, feel free to give suggestions as I can still change it. If you find bugs/have comments, you can PM me or post them here.

EDIT: About the credits, if you wish to be credited as a Beta Tester you must give me at least your first name, I will not put usernames for testers. Otherwise you will all be credited as Members of CalcG (see the About button in the program).

k thanks, and just tell me if it works on Linux, I don't know how universal .exes are but maybe they do work cross-OS.

Works great on XP. Linux on the other hand is a loss. I'm still trying to get it to work correctly using Wine. Not sure what the issue is.

The only thing I would suggest is in the Chapters section instead of just text boxes can you make them a text area? That way you can add more then just one line.

Ya I had some controversy over that one.

What happens is my program creates more like the Chapter Title. Then you can go into the ReadMe and fill in the chapters yourself. If I made text areas I'd have to make the form a lot bigger so it can hold each text area.

Perhaps this is an area where I can include a pop-up, I'll look into how I could fit it into the layout.

My name is David L. Presnall Jr. I'll test it for you. Like I said, you don't have to name names in the credits: It's up to you, it's your program.

Hey, I'm Zach L. I'd be glad to help you test. I have an XP. Nothing new, but it's another computer to test it on. Hope I can help...

In most countries selling harmful things like drugs is punishable. Then howcome people can sell Microsoft software and go unpunished? (By hasku@rost.abo.fi, Hasse Skrifvars http://www.linuxweb.com/lw_quotes.html)

Works great on my xp. I would suggest one added feature. Make it so you can save what you did, and open it later in the readme maker. That way you don't have to start over compleatly when you want to make a change. In otherwords make something like basicbuilder did.... By the way you don't need to name me in the credits, unless you want to... it's your choice.

I will think about that, but that would take a long time to make, that's actually quite a major addition.
