Total Posts: 375 | Well yesterday I heard something rattling around in my calculator but it still seemed to be working fine. Then today I pressed ON and nothing happened... I have yet to check if it's the batteries but it was working yesterday and I never received the battery warning. If I gently shake my calculator now I hear even more stuff rattling. I'm guessing it's broken so I'm going to open it up and see if it's fixable. Most likely I won't be able to fix it so I wanted to know if anyone knew where I can get one cheap? Surprisingly they have gone up in price, the store where I bought mine from has them for $20 more than they were before. Also if anyone knows what might be wrong, like what kind of piece usually comes loose in a calculator, that would help. |

Total Posts: 1111 | One of the battery springs that completes the circuit might have fallen out of place. Off the top of my head, not much else wouldn't require soldering to resecure.

Total Posts: 375 | Wouldn't that be inside the battery pack though? In otherwords you could take out the batteries and see that the spring was loose or had come out. My problem is on the very inside, rattling around in there. Its not big but sounds like a bunch of small things. Anyways thanks for the suggestion. |

Total Posts: 419 | Ebay is an excellent place to pick up a new 83+SE for dirt cheap, if that is the line you are going for. 84+/SE i think is still in the $70 range. Might take a look around on there.

Total Posts: 171 | Definitely go for ebay. I got a TI-89 Titanium (brand new) for $70 less than the retail price. Or, you could go to Wal-Mart, but it's gonna cost around $125 there. (for a TI-84+SE)

Total Posts: 1111 | Try contacting TI to see if they'll fix/replace it first, calcproductions. I can almost guarantee that their fee will amount to a smaller dollar than buying a new one.
