There is a strong possibility that I'll be buying a new computer. I'm aiming for around $2000- $3000. Being mostly illiterate when it comes to hardware, does anyone have any suggesions?

Frys. The king of all electronics
My suggestion is buy all the parts yourself. You can save allot of money that way and you get the knowledge of actually building a computer. If you need any help don't be afraid to ask. Computers are my speciality.

I was actualy looking at the alien ware website and saw a computer that had 4 terabytes of memory. You would have to down load alot of movies to fill that up. Or you could do this

Me: Hey do you like my new computer. 4 terabytes.
Other guy: <drooling>omg what do you use that much memory for?</drooling>
Me: The internet
Other guy: You mean you have a few web browsers on it?
Me: No just the whole internet. I downloaded it last night.

Uhm... Sorry to burst your bubble that a TB isn't that big. A Petabyte** or even an exa byte* now that's huge.

========
** incase you're wondering that's 1024 TB.
* also this is 1024 PB

-----
P.S.
Although both of those are huge, it's still worth having a hardrive with a petabyte.

wait until you see one of those.

an Exabyte is so large that it is the internet. 4 TB is alot now don't get me wrong there.

----
P.P.S
:( dell now owns Alienware. Falcon is the way to go nowadays.

=====
P.P.P.S
It would be faster to send a PB of data on a boat from LA to Hong Kong then it would be to transfer it using the net.

If you look at the true specs of those alien ware comps you will find that they usually have more then 1 hdd that adds up to a total of 4TB, keep in mind that you will only get about 3.5TB out of those.

See he was acting as if 4TB would hold the internet even though it would have to be atleast 4EB for it.

That was what I was getting at.

P.S.

A PB hardrive right now is the size of a desktop computer. (but so worth it)

PB? 10,485,76GB.

EB? 1,073,741,824 GB

Thus the internet would actually be about 1,125,899,906,842,624 GB.

And then you'd multiply that by 4. Which would be about 4,503,599,627,370,496 GB. So Yeah now that's huge.

I wonder if we'll ever be able to use brains as memory storage. Then when someone died, people would take their brain and look through all the contents.

yes.
but i dont think we should store extra stuff in there.
rather, be able to access the many stuff we can't in our brains.
say, photographic memory and controlling your dreams.

I take offense to any1 using that word. NEVER USE THAT WORD! It's a word that should never be used. I don't care how you use it.

The politically correct way of saying something like that is Mentally Handicapped. I worked with the Mentally and Physically Handicapped at the Filling Home in Ohio. By worked I mean helped my mom and my aunt while they were working. I guess you could say that I was volunteering. God, help u Hydralisk. Only he can have mercy on your soul. I hope your children are Mentally Handicapped so that way you'll feel how it feels when some1 doesn't use the Politically correct words to describe what's wrong with them. Las time I checked that word was ok in like 1973 but it's 2007. Hmm people try to say I act stupid, well look at you Hydra. ZOMG! What you've just said is the equivalent of using the N word and I'm not talking about nobody. You know what I'm talking about.

I'm glad to see how you view those who are born different. They can't help the way that they are. I have a few ppl from the Filling Home who I'd call my friend. Yeah that's wright my friend.

Wow I can't believe that you just said that. AHH I'M SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!

Well, I guess that I'll stop for now.

Well he's using it do describe someone and the Politically correct term is Mentally Handicapped. It should be Mentally Handicapped or Mentally Challenged are the correct terms.

And that word is Retardation and is only used in the medical field and since I don't believe that Hydra's a M.D. Dr. or was talking about it in a Medical way I was correct in my screaming.

P.S.
It's not used correctly. He's acting as if typing like that is something that I was born with.
