Total Posts: 612 | I believe that it's sad that the number of people who are interested in programming on the calculator is dwindling. Also all schools down here in VA, don't teach math any more. They teach 'How to use the calculator.' This allows them to not have to think what so ever. I think that it's sad that 98% of the people can't solve the quadratic equation by hand. Very few of them can even do any sort of math without a calculator. I believe that you shouldn't be allowed to use a calculator in math class until Pre Calculus. They start using a TI 83 in the 6th grade. I believe that it's very sad. So are you guys with me.

Total Posts: 714 | At my school they are starting to lean over to the calc side, but they still teach you the old fashion way first. That way you understand what you are doing rather then just doing it.

Total Posts: 612 | That's how i always learned. I just moved here last year. I loved doing math by hand. The only thing i don't like doing by hand is 3 equations, 3 unknown.

Total Posts: 612 | Yeah in Trig that's about what i do. At first i program during class and then then I actually pay attention the last ten minutes of class. My current school is on block system. Which means every class is 90 minutes long.
Everyone else in class is a bunch of idiots. I mean honestly they didn't know how to freaking derive, tell graphs of functions by just looking at function. I already know almost everything he says so i just sit there not listening to a word he says. It's worked pretty well so far. My current grade is a 92.5%.

Total Posts: 692 | Math here has three levels (per grade): Pure, Applied, and Essentials. Essentials is exactly what it sounds like, Applied is all the course material of Pure but just using the calculator, and Pure teaches both calc and non-calc ways of doing things. That way, people who plan on having math degrees or similar do Pure, to really understand what they're doing, whereas Applied is just so people can do it, but don't necessarily have to understand what they're doing. And the kids in Essentials (at my school, at least) are all stoner dickheads who just quit while they're not too far behind.

Total Posts: 612 | No. The only Canadian esque show I watch is Red Green Show. Well that's Canadian I think maybe. I mean the screen play seems Canadian. But what do i know. Has anyone here heard the song Canadian Idiot by Weird Al. I think that the song is funny but I highly doubt that canada is really like that. The only part of Canada that I've ever been to is Ottawa. I mean everyone seemed really nice.

I mean we spent the entire day there. The coolest part of the trip was when i went over that bridge. Has any here heard of a city with a odder name than Cheboygan, in case no one here's heard of it. It's in Michigan. Why does canada have such a great programmer. I mean Kévin Ouellet is like the greatest programmer that I've ever seen even though he used asm libraries. His was the very first game that I ever put on my calculator and it was because of him that I first wanted to start programming on the calc.
