Hey this may be a stupid question, but I can not get these darn screws out of this 83+. I've tried an allan wrench but those don't work. Any one know what type I need?

They're torx wrench screws, and very small. Best bet to be able to find the right size is buying a toolkit intended for electronics.

No, you just need a flathead that's small enough. That's what I always use (it works).

Best buy has a good one. I haven't invested in one myself but I saw it there once.

The only reason someone should bother with a specialized screw in this case is the inability to avoid warping the screw. I haven't yet come across calc screw warpage that prevents anything.

Hmm...I'm guessing you wish to dissect the calc?

Mod and clean it. Some druggie gave it to me. It needs a new LCD and it has this sticky stuff all in the buttons.
Now I need to find another LCD.

It's not nearly as easy as it sounds to switch LCDs, especially if you don't tear the ribbon off in the right way. Right now, I'm in the midst of putting a new LCD onto a calc, and it's taking time.

Well I have three months with no school. I got time, and if I mess it up. It's not like a paid for it.

As long as you're not trying to resurrect the ribbon, there really isn't any messing things up (unless you screw up something completely unrelated). It's just very time-consuming, intricate work.

Sounds like fun. And if you screw it up just do what the ASM in 28 days guide tells you to do, "have it and a baseball bat repeatedly try to occupy the same coordinates in space-time."

Back when I was in 8th grade, a rich kid threw away an 83+ in the garbage, so I took it home and cared for it and gave it water and let it crawl up my arm and stayed with it when it was asleep and called it Susie. Of course, back in 8th grade, I had no idea how much it was worth. I took it apart and reduced the LCD to powder on the front step of my house using a hammer.

Ah yes. The inevitable involvement of druggies. I am forced to sit next to a load of potheads and crack addicts in art class all day. Art class is evil, partly because of that and partly because it oppresses your creative freedoms by forcing you to follow a set path in your art, even if you're only taking the class because it's a prerequisite to a division of art that SHOULD be completely unrelated (e.g. computer-created art).

*If anyone is somehow offended by this tangent, I fart in your general direction, in advance.*

On a completely unrelated note (cough), does anyone know if lead-free solder is a decent conductor of electricity? I know that they use the leaded kind on boards, which is why I'm asking.

Edit: Never mind, I know the answer now.

Well a simple way to find if any thing is a conductor is by using a nine volt. If you see sparks or if it heats up then it is a conductor.

Your tong is a great conductor. :)

This is a spammy forum. It's like the comments on youtube videos or the "serios videogame discusion" on gamefaqs. It's noobs with egos and no spelling skills typing whatever they think sounds witty when they just come across as immature or stupid.

Not that I'm specifically referring to anyone here. Except Nikky.

Allow me to douse 3fg's spirit by pointing out that he's merely contributing to the stupidness of this topic.
