Forum MisbehavingAndy

UPDATE 3 (2/26/2006): Myself and Z have been mucking about, and it seems functional at the moment, you can log in, post, etc. etc, I don't think we're done, however, and please report any odd happenings ASAP. Thanks, and we truly appreciate your patience in this matter.

UPDATE 2: We've fixed the forums partially. You can now view and post if you had kept your login cookies. The login scripts are still down and we're working on fixing them too. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and hope to resolve the problem asap.

UPDATE 1: The forum seems to be to the point where, if it sees you as being logged in, you can post. However, it won't let you log in, nor will the side bar... So, hopefully you still have your cookies from a few weeks ago! We're still working on it.

Our forum is currently misbehaving. It will not allow anyone to log in, nor will it use previous logon cookies. Other areas of the site seem to be unaffected and will allow you to log in and carry on normal business. We are looking into this issue; please be patient. Thank you. If you need to contact us in the meantime, please post a reply here or join us in #CalcGames on the EFNet.

EDIT: We're still working on repairing the forum. While we're at it, please use our development version of new site and its forums system. You may access it from here: http://design.calcgames.org/cgi-bin/forum.cgi

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thanks.

Re: Forum MisbehavingAndy
No clue wtf is up. It just started doing this randomly. We're trying to find a backup copy of teemz to upload Just In Case, but ... we're at a loss.

Re: Forum Misbehavingwraith
Exactly, I haven't a clue, nobody has been editing teemz for a long while now.

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Somebody did modify it today however, according to the date. It was working fine yesterday night since I was replying to things. Hmm, I'm not sure I have a recent backup but I'll check.

Yeah, that timestamp was when I saved the copy and then reuploaded it, before that the time was 12/5/2005

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Interesting observation: For some reason all teemz files in its folder don't run. I tried running another cgi from the same folder and it ran fine. Folder permissions are also ok. I then put a teemz.cgi backup version in there, changed permission appropriately and it gave the same problem. I'm wondering if the problem actually lies in Perl interpreter on the sever or perhaps one of the used modules. I'm going to try to investiage this. EDIT: Ok, the problem is that for some reason Teemz scripted stopped printing the html header hence browser doesn't know how to treat the incoming content. I'm currently looking into the script to see why it stopped doing that all of a sudden. EDIT2: Well, manually adding a header makes the thing work however cookies won't work then (obviously). I'm still investigating the problem.

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Ok, this may sound odd but forum started working in FireFox all of a sudden. It still won't work in IE and we're still trying to figure out what happened. Please use FF or NS8+ for the timebeing while we rectify this problem. Thanks.

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Guess so, we didn't change any scripts so host upg does sound reasonable. Afterall, last downage was more than a year ago when they upg'd stuff, so let's wait till tomorrow and then kinda go from there.

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Still nothing. I'm going to check with our host to see if perhaps they updated something. EDIT: While we're working out the problems with our forum. If you need to ask something, please use our currently "under development" site here: http://design.calcgames.org/cgi-bin/forum.cgi Same goes for admins or other users, please check this forum until we fix the main one. Thanks!

Re: Forum MisbehavingTI Freak
lol, clicking on forum now lets me look at the source code... :)

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Well, not really the source code of the script itself but rather the output html. There's a problem with content type headers in pages and no one admited editing stuff so we're trying to see why it happened all of a sudden like that.

Re: Forum MisbehavingITP Group
If you hit the Admin link from the site tab (and you are logged in); then you press to edit your user profile it pops up a different file download than the one for the forum. The file is called (if you don't know) is: tzprofile

Re: Forum Misbehavingwraith
Hm, so the admin script works, yet teemz (another component thereof) doesn't again.

Re: Forum MisbehavingITP Group
This way DOES NOT WORK as some of you might have been confused. I was just identifying another error

Re: Forum Misbehavingallynfolksjr
Yes, because all of the login and user checking functions route through a library for teemz, well, except for the sidebar. But Z is more familiar with the base code of teemz than I am.

Re: Forum MisbehavingTI Freak
I noticed that the report file function no longer works, because you have to be logged in to do it... Could that be a problem? Because before, you didn't have to be logged in, I didn't know when that was implemented... I just thought that it might be interfering with the other scripts... There are 3 Formulas (83x) to left, and they all look the same...

Re: Forum MisbehavingAndy
Yeah, he told me in #calcgames, but I don't have the time nor inclination to fix it right now. I want to know the admin who APPROVED all the copies.

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Might have been me Andy, I approved some files at work but had no way of checking if they were all the same. They did seem to meet other criterias though. There was a guess game and some other similar thing that I deleted. What's the problem with these files? EDIT: Btw, I've contacted our host regarding the problem (to see if they did something on their end). So far I'm awaiting responce but as soon as they get back to me, I'll be sure to post an update here.

Re: Forum MisbehavingAndy
They're all identical, including the descriptions. That should be somewhat obvious on the approve page. :|

Re: Forum Misbehavingzkostik
Doh, sorry about that. I usually just skim thru descriptions and check if files have readmes and see whether readme includes any instructions. I must have missed the fact these files were same thing for same calc model...
