New Staff HiredAndy Janata
Hello CalcGames visitors! This is your new News Editor, Andy Janata, speaking. As you may well know, in recent months the site has lost two great people -- Barrett and Redux. However, at the same time we have gained six fresh new minds. You already know Nikky (allynfolksjr). Now you get to know myself and my news making team (yes, that's right: Redux decided to hire a team to replace him, he's that good). I am the new News Editor, as I previously stated. Under myself, there are W. Hibdon (sobertillnoon, who has been working behind the scenes for a bit now) and Trevor Tran (Midnight Walker) as Senior Content Managers. We also have new Content Managers, Nate Buda (torrenttrue) and Matthew Offner (darksideprogramming). We will work hard to deliver your calculator news and newsletters in a timely manner.

We're still learning the ropes, but from what I can tell, the backend is extremely easy to use. Redux will still be around for the April newsletter, so he's not just vanishing now.

I should probably tell you a bit about myself. I'm a freshman at the University of Akron (Ohio), majoring in Computer Science. I have a passion for programming, be it computers or calculators, and know several languages, among them z80 Assembly, PHP, Perl, Visual Basic, and Java (which is what we use in the CS department here). I also am an avid watcher of NASCAR. I have been in the calculator community for about three years now. I don't have any "big" programs to my name, but I am working on finishing up ShortCut. I'm almost always idling on #CalcGames on IRC as Andy_J. Well, that's enough to clutter up the front page.

In closing, thanks to all who applied and congratulations to those of us that got the jobs, and I am honored to have been chosen for this position.

On unrelated notes, RSS-enabled browsers should now be indicating we have an RSS feed (which we've had, just not in a way that browsers can pick up on it), and Happy π Day! Enjoy.

Re: New Staff HiredJayhawk
I probably should post something here, even though I'm not totally sure what to say. It really surprised me how many people are sorry to see me go. It's been really frustrating for me to not have time to do a lot of the things I'd want to do. Anyone who's worked with me behind the scenes knows I try to think of new ideas and push them along. I'd love to see a lot of those ideas implemented, but I don't usually have the time to actually get them done. So I've felt like I'm just not doing much. And for a guy who was disappointed in what he accomplished, it's surprising to get the response I did. It's flattering. About the newsletter, I think we're going to have a really good April edition. We didn't get the response we'd hoped for in bringing the March edition to you, so we skipped a month after the premiere. Hopefully it won't happen again. As always, we're looking to the community for contributions, questions, editorials, and anything else you'd have to offer. The community is what will make the newsletter a success. We've decided on a feature for the newsletter and the people we've got lined up to interview is just an amazing list. We're also still looking for what people remember of Barrett. We'll publish those in this newsletter. So get writing. :-) I've also got a few ideas still in the works. Chances are, some of these things won't become a reality until after I'm gone. We've got some interesting plans for our IRC channel, for example. I trust fully that the people I've hired will do a good job. They'll have the time to do what I wasn't able to do, and they're more than qualified. In other words, I think CG will be a lot better than I could've made it. Thanks to everyone that applied. Even if I didn't hire you, I hope you'll stick around and participiate in the site. Remember, you don't have to be a staff member to make a difference.

One more note..Jayhawk
Some of the content managers I hired aren't really full time. That is to say they have other commitments. For example, I've hired Nate Buda, but he's still also the admin of calc.org. We recognize that it's in our interest for both of our sites (CalcGames and calc.org) to succeed and it's good for the community. Hopefully people that visit here and like what he does will also take a look at calc.org and participate there, too. And if you didn't get hired here, you can apply to our friends at calc.org. The community will be a better place if both CalcGames and calc.org are successful. Welcome to all our new staff, including those who are joining us from other sites.

Re: One more note..darksideprogramming
Well, here I am, reporting for duty. Drop me a line explaining exactly what I will be doing, and also what kind of power this new title gives me (you will be afraid).

Re: New Staff HiredDigital
Well, its kind of sad. The original staff is al but gone more or less. Thanks to the lack of time or desire you hardly see myself, not too sure of spiral, but Z sticks around. I'm gald to see some fresh new faces to pass this site onto as we eventually fade out. I really want to get back into this site, yet I kind of need to finish those starcraft terrain conversions first. I'm sure you new guys will follow up really well.

Re: New Staff HiredJcCorp
Yeah, I totally agree. Although it is sad, we have to face the facts that these things do grow. Also, I hope the newer staff are young, so they can retain interest for years to come.

Re: New Staff HiredAndy
I'm 19, a freshman in college. That doesn't mean I'll be gone in a year or two, though. I plan on staying here until, well, I just don't have time anymore or there are things much more important to me (such as a wife). I'm not expecting that to happen for at least three years, so... At any rate, I'll be around as long as I can be.

Re: New Staff Hiredzkostik
I'm glad to see new faces. Its sad to see that some guys left us, but hey, we all have our things to do and B didn't really leave us. I think we should try to be optimistic and just deal with the current situation. It does seem that things are going better for CG. As with myself, I'm here when I have spare time. I don't really have time for calc projects and such nor much interest but I do get to check things out occasionally. I would still try to work on SC if others find time for it (D and pi). Also, I just feel that I have to be present here to keep up the cool athmosphere around the place. I and B afterall started this whole project so I gotta tend to things in here to certain extent. Our visitors have certain expectations from me afterall. While we're a free site, people still have expectations for us which may sound funny. I do like helping others so I'm still here. :)
