Tuesday's News Roundup: Symbolic Beta ReleasedJayhawk
Brandon Sterner of Detached Solutions has finished a beta version of his Symbolic software. Symbolic is a math package for the TI-83 Plus which adds several trig functions, symbolic differentiation, and many other useful functions. The beta version may be downloaded from at this link. Brandon is particularly interested in whether Symbolic has compatibility issues with Omnicalc.

If you're looking for a new TI-89 game to try, bobti89 has released grav to ticalc.org. The object of the game is to guide the ball around a series of traps and safely through the level while the force of gravity works against you. A level editor is also included. While this program is not in our archives, you may download it from ticalc.org.

We've recently added a couple of things to improve your experience here at CalcGames. First, there's now a FAQ that we're compiling. Check it out, and if you have any questions that you think should be added, please let us know.

And finally, we're creating an IRC channel for CalcGames. It's a few years down memory lane, but in the past a calc site just couldn't consider itself among the best sites if it didn't have an IRC channel. Our friends at ticalc.org had #ti on EFnet, Ti-Files had #ti-files, and Dimension-TI had #dim-ti. In addition to these large channels, many smaller sites ran their own channels. These were not only places to discuss calculators and request help, but to meet the people behind the scenes bringing these sites to you. And now, we've started #calcgames over on EFnet. If you'd like to discuss calculators or meet the people involved with CG, feel free to stop by. A web IRC client is available in addition to clients for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux/UNIX. If none of these clients meet your needs, many more are just a googling away. If you need help getting started with IRC, we have written a simple tutorial.

If yu have the mozilla sweet press ctrl-6 and you'll see an IRC client popup. Just set it up to connect to EfNet and type "/join #calcgames" and you'll be on your way.

I don't think so. But you could always use Opera (with built in IRC) or a nice program like mIRC.

I have X-Chat IRC client and it's very nice and unlike mIRC doesn't bug you to buy it. It's also much easier to get to work and figure out than other clients from my personal experience.
