calc.org's troublesome lifezkostik
Since calc.org ( http://www.calc.org ) came back from the dead it's still experiencing problems. Recently, they got problems with DNS and hosted sites seem to be inaccessible. I'm kinda sorry for their troubles. It seems that they only think about money not they calc community as they used to and only made efforts to setup a store and paid hosting and didn't make sure everything ran well and stable. Nevertheless, I do hope they get better and start serving the calc community as they used to. Good luck to them. What do you think of calc.org ( http://www.calc.org ) and do you think they'll be as good as before?

i wouldn't say they only care about money - they do need to pay for their hosting and domain name and everything...

well, i agree. but all they did after they restarted is setup the store and paid hosting and nothing regarding the calc community. and they also mentioned that they have store not for profit purposes. come on, why would someone buy anything in the store if website doesn't offer any calc resources? i don't try to thrash or dis them, but look at the reality.

they're still building the site. they don't need to program anything for hosted sites. they don't need to program anything for a store. but they are in the process of building their entire site from the ground up. they're just putting up features that are ready to be put up. tjil may be busy, but it takes a heck of a lot of programming to make a forum; user database; calc archives etc... i'm sure they're trying very hard.

i'm sure they're trying hard too. btw, they said they're reusing many components of the old site.

the stuff they're gonna reuse for the most part wouldn't have been difficult to make from scratch - they're gonna reuse internal stuff... in my opinion, the hardest part is displaying stuff

how do you know the hardest parts, i didn't see you programming in PHP. anyways, its hard to get everything up and working together, i can't tell how hard it would be in PHP, but in perl its hard. anyways, either way, its a lot of work.
