honestly i'd rather have news discussion be seperate from the forum... and have it be nested discussion or whatever you call it with parent comments etc... like ticalc.org.
i haven't got around to coding something like that... and i don't plan to any time soon. (hint hint, anyone who wants to make one that uses our user database and our site theme (no we don't want to customize a different one, we want one made from scratch))

| | | News Editor | zkostik | i used to have a perl script lying around somewhere that does that. i have not idea where it went though. i was a basic thereaded forum (like a file in in windows explorer). though, i think we should stick to our official forum instead of making another one. it'll be much easier that way.
speaking of news script, i might make it cross-browser compatible but i'l like to be sure its needed before i spend the time doing that.
