ok, looks like this year's hosting will cost $240 total... as opposed to $80... not to worry, once we switch to our new host you will notice very good differences.. most importantly - speed. i don't know about you, but i don't like spending $240 a year on hosting, so i made a little cafepress store... check that out to get an idea as to what it is. but keep in mind that none of those images are final (except maybe the mousepad...) go ahead and buy anything you want, but the reason i am posting this is to get help from artists. we need 13 very high res collages of calculator games (with author's permission, so tankers, SAS, my falldown, race2, standoff are all available for you to use, and if you want your games in the collages as well, or don't mind, please post here). what for? a 2003 calcgames.org calander. i think some people might buy this if we make good images. any and all help is appreciated (i am NO artist at all)... each sale per calander will pay for $5 of hosting... any and all profits (there won't be any... i can almost guarentee you that) will go straight back in to calcgames.org... if there's a lot of profit, i'll save it for future years.

What app are you using? If it is Photosphop or Elements you can make a correction layer with the properties of a Levels command over the entir pic to fix the darkness.

Z about the cafepress store. Are those actually different items of photshop mods?

Umm...talk to Barrett about cafepress cuz he's managing it. I'm more of this site related. In the store however it's possible to choose what pic you want to put where. So, right now some nice pics that people would love to have on them is what we're looking for.

digital, i LOVE your images (just for games/math blah blah)... 1 problem... we can't have Texas Instruments and TI-89 on there (copyright issues, and we are selling it)... and i'm not even sure about having that calculator on there, even if we blurr out the text... can you replace Texas Instruments TI-89 with 'CalcGames.org' or some kind of creative text?

yeah, i love images too. they look great. you think we can't have the calculkator in it too? i mean, we can remove the TexasInstruments thing and just leave Ti-89 or just 89. also, i think you should contact TI itself and just ask them if this is okay to use. this sounds like the best thing to me.

TI would say no, without a doubt... they would not risk being seen as being affiliated with anyone selling any product.. especially one that says "WE think they're just for GAMES"

BUT, we'll still use the calculator... i've already added it to the back of all 3 shirts (with Texas Instruments TI-89 cloned out)

I would have to agree with B. If we say that their calcs are just for games they could get a little touchy. Although it might fly if we can convince them the proceeds will go to our server and not to pocket. I'll replace Texas Instruments with oure logo and make it CG-89 instead of TI.B how should we approach this, Z's idea or sommehting else?

yeah, just replace Texas Instruments with CalcGames.org, and TI-89 with CG-89 (maybe not the 89 though... how about just CG?)

One Q though. What font does TI use. The small capital letters are easy but I want it to look like the calc and not an obvious implant?
One last thing. The TI logo also needs to be changed. Should I just removeit or make one to put in its place (maybe a white calc with a C implanted in a G).

i got my mousepad, clock, and sticker today, and let me tell you; the quality of these is a LOT better than i expected. the printing worked perfectly. it's not blurry, and the resolution is high enough that you can't see any dots! i highly recomend the store now.

btw, the newer pics (what is it) won't really look good on any of the clothing - it only looks good on the mousepad.... the reason is that all the shirts are white or light gray - and the pic is mostly black... if you want to see an example let me know, but i hope you understand why... the "just for games" looks really good on the clothing though.

I thought that may happen since I do photography I understannd the brightness of the medium printed on affects the image directly. Its no problem at all. I'll probably try to do the same thing on a brighter pic. I will most likely have on in my archives.

I have no credit card and my parents don't have a clue that I'm involved with this site (my grades should be a little higher). BTW B, I just realized why the "what is it" pic is so dark. I had to screw around with some icc color profiles a little with adobe gamma to get the proper color reproduction with my printer and the gamma is boosted on my machine. But the pic look just like it should on an lcd screen. I really can't change it because I do digital photography as a part time business and I don't want to reconfigure everything. If you or Z have any prog that has manual image correction like Photoshops 'Levels', go ahead and try to tweak the pic.

Definitely, this server is more expensive than previous one. Right now B pays out of his pocket, so any help is very appreciated. Either way, it'd be cool to have a CG shirt :). Btw B, can you make a red shirt? Its just coz in the place i work we're only allowed to wear red shirts. I'll definitely get a red one if you could arrange that. Or umm, actually i'll just get a white one if that's such a problem. I'm gonna buy a car next week, so i'll get myself a tee as well after that.

looks cool. Only thing is that they don't have black shirts, so you'll have to blend it to white around the edges. might look cool on some of the other products too.

I used Microsoft PhotoDraw, although I cant change the background to white (its being touchy). You could also use it on the fleece products, hats, mousepads (full bleed), stickers (full bleed), backpacks/bags, and data CD's (all files on site or something)

That would be cool

as a reply to an article waaaaaaaaay up the page, TI-Graphing Calculators can be used for something other then games?

Entirely off topic: Whenever you post in the forum a time stamp is put on the post. Would it be possible to put a clock on the si that is always visible like under our logo?

you mean current time? well, sure i just didn't see any real good purpose for it. i don't think it'll be put under the logo, but on top and/or bottom of forum page it not a problem.

current time yes becuase I can't always remember the conversion and it is noce to try to guess if someone is still online and see if the replying can be sped up. Just an idea and a convenience kind of like on ticalc.org.

time sure, but who's online won't work very well because not everyone logs out or closes browser window when they leave. so, this feature will not always show correct info. some sort of timeout might work, like some timer that'd refresh when some user uses or opens up forum. and times out after 10 mins of inactivity (not going through forum anymore).
