50 posts have been reached on the previous thread, which means a new topic. And this completes my input on the debate...

As of right now, probably Java. To be honest, I really hate C++ and now have to use it for my univ. projects. It's definitely about time to look at the future and use the programming language of the future instead of keep rewriting all the stupid code in the old cpp. No offense to C++ fans, that's just my point of view.

Oh, real mature, DSP. lol

I couldn't get C++ compilers to work when I tried them, so I'm w/Z. Java isn't bad, considering its uses.

Someone actually did that to me on several occasions. Of course, if I were good at ZTris, it wouldn't happen...

LOL! the circle game!

Hmm, this gives me an idea for a debate:

Do you think the world is getting more mature or less mature?

People are starting to act more childish than ever, as games, toys, etc. are becoming readily available to the older markets. However, today's youth aren't innocent whatsoever. They are forced into adult settings much earlier than the old days.

When you can't live a childhood, as a child, you revert backwards some as an adult, to relive those lost moments.

i think all ages are slowly centering in on a certain point of maturity and, as time passes, these points will pass each other and the maturity spectrum will reverse, as will our views on maturity. Kind of like how the magnetic poles switch positions about every 48 million years.

impature??? And whether or not the world is getting more mature mature or imature depends on your definition of maturity.

Well, then, what is your definition of maturity? I think it is when you finally feel responsible for your own doings.

I think that's the basic definition, but there are different levels of maturity. Like some people fell partially responsible for their actions, but not as much as maybe they should be. Some people are kinda sporadically mature as well, they can be mature, but only when they feel like it. And some people are totally to one side or the other.

lol, DSP, act your age!

>>they can be mature, but only when they feel like it<<

Well, then, that isn't really mature at all, is it? That's just choosing responsibility, which is generally immature. I guess you can't be even a little immature without being totally immature. Unfortunately, nothing is absolute in this world... so is everyone immature?

Y'know, I wouldn't really doubt that.

well maturity shouldn't be mistaken 4 stupidity.

<< it's going to be me that will rule the world!! >>

Gee, let's hope that doesn't happen. :)

Frankly, I'd rather set up a worldwide republic than a totalitarian dictatorship if I ruled it. There'd be less revolt, I wouldn't have to deal with all the work, and I could retire much earlier.

And shouldn't you have said, "Don't mistaken immaturity for stupidity?" But anyway, immaturity causes stupidity. Because technically, stupidity is ignorance, which is a lack of knowledge. And if you can't take the responsibility to learn anything, you are ignoring your responsibility, which is immaturity.

Age does set guidelines for when you should be mature. If you are old enough to take on a truly serious responsibility, like driving, then you should be mature.

Oh, and name one thing in the world that is totally absolute. Think VERY hard about this.

Immaturity and stupidity maybe closely linked, but they are not exactly the same. Its like the square-rectangle thing you learn in geometry, a square is always a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't always a square. It can be, but not always. Just like immaturity and stupidity: Immature people are always stupid, but stupid poelpe aren't necessarily immature, although most often they are :) .

And also, the only thing that is absolute is the fact that nothing else in the world is absolute.

and....
<<Oh, and name one thing in the world that is totally absolute. Think VERY hard about this.>>
lunch has got got u!!

u should be mature when u're older, but it doesn't mean u have 2 be.
driving is another issue.
and
immaturity doesn't cause stupidity! it certainly is a factor, but not a direct cause. besides they r both 2 different things. don't mix up the 2 pleez. besides everyone knows by now that i'm crazy. I sure as hell ain't stupid. I'm in all honors classes.
<<Immature people are always stupid, but stupid poelpe aren't necessarily immature, although most often they are >> WRONG! i have a million friends that r immature people that r'nt stupid.

I'm sorry, I didn't see that "else" in there. Yes, you are right.

Immaturity and stupidity are certainly separate things. Stupidity is simply a lack of knowlegde or skills. Immaturity is the inability to take responsibility for your own actions.

My little brother is certainly immature. However, he is not a stupid person. He has a lot of knowledge and has shown himself to be smarter than me quite a bit.

I only know that because i've spent hours thinking about that and other things like it. I don't know why i did it, i guess i had to much time on my hands and decided i should probe that mystery of life on my own. I wonder if that how alot of philosophers get started. Hmmmm...

Oh BTW TI-Freak, I finally ported ur Ztext program to assembly (at least the homescreen version), and its available here. If u want the graph screen version, it'll be a bit longer.

EDIT: I have the smal text version, but it doesn't scroll lines for some reason, so if you want it like that (max 23 chars per line), i'll have it on my site under the same subdirectory, just as ztasm1.zip

That's not really much of a bad thing, it shows you are a good thinker and are a smart person. Though, philosiphers don't make much of a living.

lol, don't plan on being one. Programmeer, probably; Philosopher, no. Have you ever read Candide by Voltaire? I am reading it for school and you know what happens to the big philosopher in that story, Dr. Pangloss? He gets beaten by bandits, ravaged by the plague, nearly drowns, and then is hanged for making using logic. Definetly not the way I wanna end up.

Decent. It's pretty funny for 350-yr-old, translated-from-french literature, considering that whenever something good happens to the main charcter, Candide, something ten times worse happens leaving him near dead or wishing he was dead.
