I just like to inform those who don't know about this Adblock Firefox extension. Once you set 10-20 wilecard url's to block you won't see adds for months. I've been using it for a while now and the most I see as far as adds are the text placed on sites that lable advertisements with text like "Advertisement". www.sciam.com is a good example.

I actually got it set up to where I don't even get google or yahoo adds! The most I see of google adds is in my gmail inbox, which I could brobably block, but don't really care about that. I;ve never had an extension work so well and just plain out highly reccoment any firefox or mozilla users to download it.

While this is a good suggestion, having an ad blocker that will even block Google ads would prove very damaging to CG as we need those ads to be able to cover the site's operating costs... Personally, I only find some picture ads annoying and text ads aren't really that evil at all.

eh, I just ignore the ads...or get a powerfull ad remover. Firefox blocks websites sometimes with lots and lots of ads.

Most sites I visit contain simple text ads from Google. My brain just meshes them into the background, as it were, so they don't bother me.

I don't mind text ads at all, personally.

I leave google ads up because they aren't that intrusive and lots of good sites use them. Adblock is useful in other cases though.
