I'm going to be without my laptop for 2-3 weeks starting today. :img03: :img25:  :wow:  :puke_a: Sending it in to get the LCD replaced, there are way too many dead pixels. I'll still have a (crappy) computer in my room, and there are always the lab computers downstairs, but don't expect me to be the forum-checking person I have been the past month... Maybe three times a day instead of six or so.

I'll still be here, don't worry.

@Korkow: I'll be on, but not nearly 24/7 as it is now. Wired Internet gets reset at 3:30-ish AM, requiring one to re-log in using an Internet form. Wireless (which I use on my laptop) doesn't have that "security feature" (though they do require you to use a username and password to even get an IP address for wireless). So, once I wake up every day I'll be on until 3:30 the next morning. Same thing for CalcFun.

@TI-Freak: Well, that's not the problem here... I've reinstalled windows on this thing so much it's not even funny. It's a hardware problem that I can't do jack crap about.

Finally got Opera up and running on my temporary computer.. All my cookies and bookmarks included. :) But the computer is really crappy. Banding across the screen, caused by the video chip (NOT the CRT).

Here's a literal screen shot of it. -_-

...they had the best Athlon64 laptops at the time (featurewise and pricewise at any rate).

Arg! Now I'm *REALLY* pissed... The status page has changed to show that it's not covered by warranty and that it'd cost $750 to fix. WTF. I haven't done anything to void the warranty... If they're saying that this one cluster of pixels is ruined from pressure on it, I can understand that, but there are dozens of other ones that have been stuck from wearing out (or bad manufacturing) for months. Also, I definitely won't be getting it back for another week now, instead of today. *@&#(*&%(*&@%($(*&@(*&% them.

Why don't you just get a new one if they want that kinda money?? Please don't flame me, but I have been loking at ones at Dell, and they start as low as $23 per month... You might check it out...

Well, I just spoke with them (and its a $1500 laptop mind you, I'm not buying another one). Turns out they detected some sort of "chemical spill" on the LCD (bullshit...). At the very least I'll get it back in the condition I sent it in (which is livable, just annoying in Counterstrike). I told them that even without this large cluster (which I'm assuming is where this "chemical spill" took place) there are quite a few dead pixels elsewhere on the screen that they said they'll now look at and "fix"... I'm just pissed at them for using a shoddy LCD.

lol, I can see where you are coming from then. I only gave 100 for mine, and in a year or two, I will get me a new one, with wi-fi and stuff like that... :)

Finally, I got it back today. Doesn't seem like they actually did anything to it... Grrr.

I got mine back yesterday, and finally got all my stuff loaded on to it so I can begin working on my site again. :)
