I just switched over to a new laptop and I am having trouble figuring out how the heck I had my old system set up to have gmail as my default mail application. Currently it loads that stupid dumb Microsoft program :-/

Any help == greatly appreciated

To change your default mail application, go to internet properties, select the programs tab, then change you default mail application there. If there an internet explorer shortcut on your desktop, just right click that and select properties to take you to internet properties. if you dont have a shortcut there you should be able to find it at this dir., C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

I searched gMial in the FireFox extensions and through another link found it here. I wasn't sure if it was an extension or somew setting. Thanks though!

No, you still have to change it in Internet Explorer, as that has the Internet properties for the entire computer.

gMail nor FireFox shows up in that list. I can't really think of a time whwne I wouldn't be clicking on a mailto: link from any oplace besides FireFox so this will definitely work. Maybe AIM or IRC but I;m not on that anymore.
