Total Posts: 507 | Ok, this is kinda out of the blue... I have noticed several sites have an icon on the left side of the address bar. this appears in Firefox and IE.
my question is this: is there a specific script i need to get an icon for my site? also, if so, does anyone have a copy i could have? |

Total Posts: 1892 | just get a .bmp, save it with the extension .ico, and call it favicon.ico
Also, pop this onto your index page somewhere in your header, <LINK REL="shortcut icon" HREF="/favicon.ico" TYPE="image/x-icon">
Also, the image is 16x16 pixels, I believe.

Total Posts: 2486 | The icon is 16x16 but can also be 32x32 is i'm not mistaken. Though, I suggest you used 16x16 so that you can have better control of its quality as resized quality is not always that good and you may end up with an overly blurry icon.

Total Posts: 199 | Ya, I got a favicon on my site (and its hosted at CG). And of course I GIMPed it up, though I needed to pull off some linux tricks to make it an .ico file. I thought they were pretty cool (the icons) :) |
