hmm... if they learned anything from the mistakes they made with Xbox, 360 will be the best... maybe it wont freeze as much...

i already forgot the specs for em', but one (i think) has triple core processing...

The 360 WILL be out LONG before the PS3. The Revolution, I'm not so sure about. But it is definite fact that the 360 will be out this holiday season, but the PS3 will be around Q2 2006.

Well, 360 should come out around mid December '05 r\or so. And like Andy said ps3 in Q2 '06. Though, I don't believe any of the so called specs until the unit comes out and we can take it apart and see what's under the hood. I wouldn't be surprised if they come out less than half of advertising specs. Just like xb and ps2 specs were bull. Sony was actually even worse than M$ with their ps2 as they showed prerendered vids caiming them to be real in-game footage. It sure would be nice to see the advertised specs but till they come out and we know for sure its pointless to discuss which one is better. That's like fitting in a fanboy rack. ps3 may in fact use cell but 360 with 3 g5 cores smells as we all know how heat issues plague IBM chips. Only cell actually has relatively low heat output. So we'll see if they work magic or just lie. Looking at the size of ps3 Sony will also have to work some magic...

On purpose of course. Though, being a PC gamer I've never understood what was so great about Halo anyway. Oh well, I guess everyone has their preferences...

As for the best, I'm not really too sure. From what I've seen and heard, the PS3 really sounds like it will have to somehow really make up for its shortcomings. The Xbox seems like it will be the biggest seller, but I'm going for the big N, simply 'cuz I really wanna see those controllers, and there is a promised SSBM. :D

Halo is actually a nice game. I'm not that great at thumbsticks for a FPS, but I'm decent in campaign mode (I get slaughtered in multiplayer mode).

Now, I ought to go out and buy the PC version... That would be cool. :)

Speaking of Xbox, Fable comes out on PC soon and is supposedly way better than it was on XB, not some crappy port. Reviews say it'll have more quests, outfits, etc. so RPG fans get ready!
As with Halo, I don't want to sound anal but its a n00b game in MP. If you're up for a skilled game try CS, even BF is more tactical. Halo2 is much better but I just can't stand playing FPS games with a controller so perhaps when it finally comes out on PC my view could change.

I'll have to wait till they're out for a real judgement, but it seems that the PS3/360 are both way ahead of Nintendo. In the meantime while I wait for them all to get out i'll prob. get a 360 to decorate my dorm.

Mmmmm, Fable for PC.. That would rock!

I do play CS quite a bit, doubt I'll get BF2 though.

I played it for a while on my roommate's XBox, I never got even halfway through... I'd definitely get it if they'd port it to PS2 (unlikely), and probably if for PC -- depending on system requirements.

Well, Oblivions is of course, undoubtfully is going to be some monster ball-kicker. They said it'll actually hit us this holiday season (sometime in December?). Fable probably won't have very high system reqs. if they did a good port. They did however buff up the gfx a bit from the XB version. I doubt it'll run well on your laptop Andy, but it should at least work. Speaking of upcoming games, STALKER and Oblivion are pretty much the only thing's I'm really waiting for. Though, that Stargate game looks pretty cool too. Next Unreal Tournament and Quake 4 will probably be good but I sorta lost interest in those. I might just try them for the eye candy but that'll be about it. We'll prolly have to upgrade our rigs to see all that sexiness of Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion :).

Actually, Z, the only games that just don't work at all are games that require hardware DX8 or 9, and most other ones look decent -- yes, HL2 and CS:S don't look GREAT, but they look real enough to keep me convinced.

Hmm, I thought that onboard Intel chip that comes on Presario 3000's was a DX8 one. Well, DX can be software emulated but quality and performance suck hard. HL2 should still look pretty nice but you won't see the cool water and other pixel shader effects.
