I am bored, thought that I could get a different kind of conversation going...

My favorite anime that I have come across so far is a series called Vandread.

Well, currently I still think Fullmetal Alchemist is the best of the ~5 I've seen... I watched Hikaru no Go (hence my avatar) and really liked it, but it's just not as fast as FMA -- so FMA is still at the top (though HnG has better music and subtitles ;) ). I have a lot of Naruto sitting on my USB hard drive, I just have to get off my bum and watch it. I have a feeling it'll be decent.

To be honest, I don't really need to go find anything else -- I'm still not even sure why I started with FMA to begin with. I just ... watched it and got hooked somehow.

I know how you feel. My friend let me borrow a couple of his, and I became hooked. It is a really funny series. :)

The main plot of the whole thing is that men and women live on different planets, and the men launch this campaign against the women, but some women pirates ambush them and take over the older section of the men's ship. The men shoot missles at the women, but the ship's power source has a preservation mode, and sends everyone (the pirates and three men) 275 days away from their home planets. As they travel, they learn to live with eachother, but as they do so, it gets wackier and wackier... :)

What genre are you interested in? I'll prolly be able to recommend you something as I've seen quite a lot.

From the anime I've seen (which isn't a lot, I need to catch up), my favorite is a tie between Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist.

Yeah, Cowboy Beebop is good. Original GITS movie was nice, you also might like Armitage 3 : Poly-Matrix; Akira is a classic of course; Genesaft (average plot but good animation and plenty of fighting), Dirty Pair Flash was pretty fun; Pahxephon and Neon Genesis Evangelion are nice too if you're into bigass mechas. Full Metal Panic has some cool mecha action and a nice plot. If you like chicks and guns you might like Mezzo and Kiddy Grade. Serial Experiments Lain is a weird one, reminds me of Matrix movie for some reason. What about Trigun too? There are plenty more but that should provide you with some ideas.

Well, I have a pretty large collection myself and generally am a fan of anime. No particular genere preference here, just whatever is fun. Right now I don't really have much free time to check out other things though.

They haven't released the rest of the dubs yet... You'll have to wait like the rest of us.

FMA actually got one of my anime-hating friends into anime... wow, I should probably see it then, but I'm lazy.
