Hi everyone !

I'm looking for a program which slow overclocked TI-85.
I have removed the C9 capacitor, and it runs well now (3 times faster) but I cannot view pics anymore.

The famous "turbo slow" prog doesn't work well, since my TI-85 is still 2 times faster after the running the slow mode.

Has anybody got an idea or a link to suggest me ?

thanks

Oh man, I'm not sure about that. I did attempt to OC my old 85 but i didn't like it overclocked coz it was overheating very fast and eating the batts. Removing C9 ended the OC. That's kinda weird what's happening to your calc. Is C9 only thing you've changed?

wow, someone with the guts to actually to open up their calc and overclock it.

Don't most overlockering guides have the ability to also install a switch to turn turbo on and off?

In any case, although pictures were once impressive on my 89, they got lame after my first palm pilot, and pathetic after i got a color one.

Thank you for your replies...

Yes, the C9 capacitor is the only thing I have changed.

In fact, 3 years ago, I decided, to overclock my TI-85. Many guides said you've got to replace the C9 capacitor (29pf) by a smaller one (1pf). But some guides said you could just remove the C9. That's what I did. The TI-85 was running 3 times faster, I was impressed, but some assembly progs used to bug at this speed. So I asked an electonic specialist to put back the C9 and install a switch and a 1pf capacitors so I could choose between "fast" and "slow" mode.
The TI-85 ran well but I lost some speed in the wires that connected the switch to the capacitors. So my TI was running a bit slower than an "original" TI in slow mode, and only 2 times faster than a normal TI-85, in turbo mode. But assembly progs which bugged before, ran very well.

However, 2 days ago, I choose to speed up my TI-85 again, just by removing the C9 (like the begining...). So, now, it's running 3 times faster again. But some assembly progs doesn't work... (particulary the one that allows me to view grayscale pics : picview)
And I'm looking for a good prog that allows me to choose the speed of my TI (number of cycles / seconde).

My english is not excellent but I hope you understand what I write.

Well, i think i know why grayscale stopped working. Grayscale is not officially supported by TI so its emulated and it requires the calc to quickly switch the bw pictures at certain time delay. OCing your calc obviously messes up the timer stuff and therefore makes grayscale not work. This is just a guess from my understanding of how this works.

Btw, did this stuff used to work on your last OC?

Edit: Oh, try other programs. Maybe what I said wouldn't be true in every pic viewer. Who knows, maybe they all work somewhat different?

zkostik, I think you are right.
Only assembly programs that use grayscale routines don't work. Your explanation appears highly probable to me.
In fact, when I run the "picview" prog, the TI switch between black and white to display the pics, and after 1 or 2 seconds, the program stops (and I have to remove the batteries to restore memory defaults).

it was working perfectly on my last overclocking (when it was 2 times faster)

>>Edit: Oh, try other programs. Maybe what I said wouldn't be true in every pic viewer. Who knows, maybe they all work somewhat different?

the problem is that I didn't find any other program to view my pics.

thank you very much for your explanation... however, I have a final question... why it still doesn't work when I use the "turbo slow" prog that slow my calc to the same speed as it was with my last OC (I means 2 times faster).

with my last OC, it works (2X faster) ---> hardware modification
Now, when I reduce the speed to 2X faster, with "turbo slow', it doesn't work ---> software modification

At the same speed, there are two different ways for the TI to react according to the software / hardware modification... it is strange ?!
