I can't believe Halo 83.5 by HAYS is a top downloaded game. Imo, all the basic shooters are horrible. I hate how just by calling your program anotehr game that's famous attracts thousands more people to download it even if the resemblance to the original is slight to none.

Welcome to the world of advertising spiral. It is common practice to imply a products quality via association.

I think we should take it off for copyright infringement (as well as blasphemy) on the real Halo.

I found this on hays site:

But enough about that, let's get to the important news that everyone has been waiting for: Halo83 Game of the Year Edition! Since our Halo83.5 has been crowned "Game of the Year" by several online sites and publications, not to mention having become the most popular Ti83+/SE First Person Shooter ever, we decided to give the fans more of what they want. Game of the Year Edition will include several more graphics updates which we feel are important, but also, it will include several community created Mods, which feature new weapons, enemies, and other cool things that you, the community, have created and sent to us.

Speaking of touching things up, we will be pressing forward with a new "Ultimate Edition" line of games for the Ti83+/Doorways platform. Eat 'Em³ is the the tip of the Ultimate Edition iceburg, so stay tuned for that.

And finally, ticalc.org is still not cooperating with Hays in getting our archives section fixed, so Hays is switching all future support to calcgames.org, which we feel is a better, more personal site anyway.

End copying.

Hmm, who voted it the best? And most downloaded...hmmm...Anyways, i found that intresting. Theres calculator publications?

You actually went to the Hays site??? I feel sorry for you, I may not like Halo 83.5, but you shouldn't feel obligated to actually go there.

I think that Hays is merely hyping their games so that they will get many downloads and feel special. Personally, I hate people like that.

I want to go awall on them right now, but I'll keep myself incheck. Blatant lying to make the game more popular, when from what I hear it sucks, is one of the most underhanded things that someone could do here in the community. In my mind they have just all credability.

My slow-ass raytracer in basic we better. I probably will never understand how people can think a Halo for 83 can be anything near to what we see on pc or xbox. I dunno, you can remove it spiral if you have good enough justification for that. Otherwise, it wouldn't be very fair although name is misleading and people are likely to get very diappointed after they see what it actually is. Even from screenshots you can tell what this game is...I don't want to start anything bad here, so spiral and D, go ahead email me about this and we'll decide about what to do in private.

Well, it probably did put out about 3-5 fps :). It dad a fixed angle of 90deg anyway, otherwise it wouldn't even make out 1 fps. This can be done with pics at a better speed, but I really hate the flickering. Btw, that was like ages ago when I wanted to make a 3d maze. I did, and maps were drawn from a matrix. I dunno if I still have it since I never felt it was worthy to be released...

I understand what you're saying guys, but you're being kind of mean, I mean, haysgame tried his best, you know? I think that unless you guys make a better one, it's not very nice to talk about him like that.

Then by that logic, critics should not be critics. WE've been in the calculator world for years as you know. We know the differences between BASIC and ASM, including proformance differences, like the backs of our hands. We speak from experience, not ignorance as you suggest, but thanks for saying something about.

well, theoretically, I should be able to design something very similar to Halo 83.5 because my BASIC is (or more precisely, was) quite decent.

I didn't because i feel it is waste of time to create a program inferior in quality and doesn't add to the community (esp. since it's been done before).

And Haysgames has been known for (years i believe?) for making ridiculous advertisements and becoming heated topics of debates (and many flames) from the Assembly 83 mail list, I don't think most hay
