TI-83 silver(or any type)get sounds.
it's quiet,no special sounds,or sound effects??

Total Posts: 739 | I know there are sound programs, but I have to say, you might as well get a PDA. Calculators with color and sound, don't really help you with the math stuff, so, Ti probably doesn't need to add it. |

Total Posts: 1892 | yes you can, on www.ticalc.org in the archive section...somewhere there is a ASM program that lets you make sounds, and the game "iceclimb" has sounds too...
but...you have to make a speaker...i did, it only cost like 2 bucks to get the parts at radio shack...the instructions are on ticalc also.. |

Total Posts: 2486 | all you need is a 2.5mm->3.5mm stereo headphone adapter and a set of headphones from your cd player. your calcs has a 2.5mm link jack and that's where this adapter will go and will let you plug a set of regular headphones with a 3.5mm jack. if by any chance you've happened to have a cell phone with a headpiece you may even be able to use it w/t any adapter at all, just make sure its plug has 3 rings, not 4 like some cellphone headsets do.
as for sound program, they all are pretty pathetic and don't even get anywhere close to MIDI. though, its still pretty fun to get sound out of a non-sound enabled machine. btw, some programs put strain on the processor so that it generates a certain pattern in radio waves and you can actually hear it if your try to tune in a radio. look around in ticalc.org archive under ti-83+ assembly programs and you'll find quite a few there. also, i think there was even a sound section under ti-83+ assebmly.

btw momen soudan, your avatar url seems not to work since the picture returns an error. its possible that you've misspelled its url or the hosting server might not allow remote loading (or something of that sort). pls check your avatar url.

a) People don't like you remote linking to stuff held on their webpages (although a 100x100 pictures won't make much fo a difference)
b) the link may change and leave you with no avatar
c) It most likely won't fit as well as doing it yourself. |

It's as high quality as Gameboy music, it takes up very little space (about a kilobyte per minute), it's stereo sound, and it runs under Ion or Mirage. For full-on music, try playwav 83. You can only fit about ten seconds in your RAM, but the quality is pretty high. For both of these programs, go to ticalc.org and look under 83 (or 83+), assembly, sound programs, ion. |

Total Posts: 122 | No. There is a version of Calcmod for both Ion and MirageOS. What you need hardware-wise is a 3.5 mm-2.5 mm stereo adaptor. Plug the 2.5mm end into your linkport, then plug regular headphones (like on a cd player) into the 3.5mm end. Before plugging in the headphones, make sure you're in Mirage or Ion. Otherwise, your calculator will temporarily freeze (just while the headphones are plugged in). Then, run Calcmod from your shell, and voila, stereo sound. |

I found in ticalc's acrhives (ASM Sound programs i think) a program that uses sound, and there i gave instructions for how to make a speaker (in the .zip file), but if not, the hardware section on ticalc.org also has stuff to make speakers ( i think)

you can get the wave player, and other choices if you click on the (Ion or MirageOS menu options on that page)

Momen, if you don't mind me asking (and anyone else who wants sound), why do you want sound? To help the games, or just because you want it. Sound on a game might give away that you're playing it on math class. :) |
