Hey everyone, I've been trying to put more drawings and movies into my games, but do you have any tips to make my drawins look more professional? I've tried and tried but they just look like a toddeler did them! It takes me weeks to do a semi-decent drawing!

It depends on what calculator you're using...i know on the 83+, try using the circle tool, the line tool and such: that makes nicer curves and lines. THen you can use the pxl_change command to deleate part of the lines or circles you don't want...

Note: You must turn off the axis and all functions first, and be sure to use the 'draw' commands while you're in graph mode, otherwise it may get compicated...

And one more thing, do you want picture drawing and actuall drawing? Actuall meaning the drawing is done with code within a program. In any event, try learning ASM if you want real professional drawings and frame rates (unlike certain "games" i could mention (cough*halo*))

I have a friend that can draw a pretty decent picture in twenty minutes. (He's been doing them for about 4 years now I believe.) Just gotta practice at it, I guess.

DO you have any computer imaging software? Try to learn how to use it. From there you can make high res stuff and shrink it down to fit o the calculator. The use Image studio to convert it into a format that the calculator can read.

Well, I usually just draw on the calc, I've gotten the basics done, and I even figrued out how to make a flashing background. But I'm trying to make all-around more professional drawins for BASIC. Thanks for the tips. Got any more? :sunglasses1:

yah...i know studycard creator can change a .bmp (i think) picture file for the calculator to readit, but it only works in the studycard app, but I'm sure there is a program out there that change a picture to a calc-readable one in BASIC

The new version by Cullen Sauls can out put to C for the 68K platforms, TI-BASIC and ASM.

useable by BASIC? that's interesting. Is the new version the one that supports any image size rather than max @ resolution of 92/v200?

By Asm, i meant Z80, 68k, and C (since it's still 68k underneath)

I advise using Paint. Yes, just plain paint. What you can do (if you're going to steal graphics, which isn't really that despicable if you're making games at this res), then shrink them to the right size. You'll have to go through the pixels one by one, but it will look more proffessional. Then just open your image in TI Screen capture, and send it to your calc.

Yeah, but I would never steal graphics. Ever. It would really ruin my rep around here . . .

I do drawing the old fashoned way-myself! :)

well ripping pics would probably be from color games, so they wouldn't look good anyways. greyscale on the 89 allows soem petty good grfx ripping, as if I could draw SAS's backgrounds so well.

SAS's backgrounds are really good. They just need a transition. 480x100 pictures, all done by hand, that must of took a while.

calculatorfreak- good for you. I draw my stuff myself too. I'm just giving advice. Learning pixel art is not like most art. Most art is rally about talent, but anyone cand do pixel drwing. The way to learn pixel art is hours upon hours of practice. You WILL get good if you practice a lot. I used to be horrible at it, but now I've improved a lot.
