Which interface cable should i build in orther to link it with PC. I tried the 4$ serial but it does not work. What are you using apart from the original cable...

Hey! Name Copyer! How dare you! :img17:

Try a USB cable to connect the calc to your PC. Make it your own? I wouldn't try it. USB is only 10$ . . .

The USB Graph Link cable with the TI-85? Won't work with any of TI's Windows software. Presumably with TiLP you could still use it though.

TI's black serial Graph Link cable works just fine. As far as built-it-yourself cables go, there really aren't a lot of choices, so just try them until one works.

The TI-85 only connects to Macs, that is Apple computers. That is why I sold my 85 and got a TI-89.

Exactly. 85's aren't really good for game downloads-I don't own a single Mac and never will . . . so you might want to consider getting a different calc.

I have successfully connected three 85's to my PC. (Not at the same time of course, but you get the idea.) If they only connect to Macs, then something's wrong with my PC...

Try using TiLP (here) along with a black/grey serial link or the silver USB link. The USB is about $10 - $15 at your local Wal-Mart.

Edit: I used the black serial link when I connected the 85's. The graphlink software for the 85 or TiLP both worked just as well (black link).

Okay, yes, TI Connect for the Mac supports the 85/86 and TI Connect for Windows doesn't. TI Connect isn't the end-all of linking software though. TiLP has been mentioned, and the old Graph Link software still works fine with the serial Graph Link cables.

TI-Connect and gray serieal cable works great on a pc. I've tried it on my old 85 and it works great. Too bad my 85's link port died. Don't bother with homemade link cables, coz most of them probably won't work. If I were you I'd look for a black or gray serial cable made by ti. That'll save you some trouble at least.
