Is there any way that I can create a program by having a program create it. I am currently working on Linux for TI's, and for the ./a.out command, I need to beable to create a program with simple commands. Ion does this when you install it. When you run prgmIONZ, and it's done installing, it creates prgmA.

Please help!!

This you can do with assembly programs, but not with basic. If you want to learn assembly quickly and efficiently, i recommend Sean McLaughlin's asm in 28 days. It is on Ticalc.org, but i'm not sure its here.

I saw one of my friends store a programs code in one continuous string and seperated the commands with colons. Then he just selected the string hit enter and it actually ran the program! This doesn't actually create the program, but you can always use the sub( command to edit the string within the program and what not...it might be a solution to your problem.

Note that this was on a TI-86.

I assume you mean he 2nd-RCL'ed the string to the home screen, took off the quote marks, and hit ENTER, thus running the program code. Strings aren't executable.

Yeah I tried reproducing it and failed. Now I'm not sure what he did.

on the z80's, program cmd/io operations only work within programs, not from the homescreen.

True for the 83 family, but not the 85/86.

Try Celtic, you can find it here:http://iambianet.freewebpage.org/index.html
Also If your just starting this I would also suggest just downloading the Celtic 2.4 version from the website I mentioned. 3.0+ has all kinds of accessory binary language support that would squalor and new programmers brain.
