This is a neat game I'm making so the quality on T14 dosen't drop.

the whole concept is to guide I-Man through the levels, the fun part is that there is gravity and if you hit the bottom. you die. There are also sticky/sliding blocks.

Don't worry about T14 though. I'm doing this to take my mind off that so I can stay fresh with ideas!

AscII and you have to play it with your calc turned 90 degrees clockwise. there are 4 levels done right now there are some neat tiles that move you while holding on to you to!

Okay there is one downside to the game... the level program (stores the level in Str1) is about 5000- bytes... that's only for 4 levels, but they're huge overall! any sugestions for how to keep how long it is but shrink the size in bytes?

I'm really looking forward to this, actually. Sounds cool.

Also, after you are done and are looking for something to do, make a level editor if you can. :)

acually... alongside a level editor i'll need a couple of levels to implement in levels 6-?? so here are the rules...

1.the levels are one screen (16 characters) wide (virtical calc)
2.the levles must be longer than 24 characters (3 screens) tall (virtical calc)
3.the levels must use ON-CALC accessible ascii graphics

also there are 2 special tiles "/" and "v" the first grabbs you and moves you to the right (horizontal calc) and the second moves you to the left (horizontal calc)

stupid fonts... I need ascii graphics capibilities!

okay I'll submit the "game" part 1 (levels 1-5) tomorrow...
If you make a level then e-mail me the .txt file and i'll make it without a second thought

huh... I forgot to mention the vs. mode that will be soon to be implemented. both you and your friend are on 1 screen and the other controlls your gravity! if you hit the side you lose!... it'll be fun

It would depend... If you use a bunch of asm tools like Kevin did in his RPGs then you may actually be able to make a decent platformer in basic.

Any particular reason you want to make it in pure basic? As we all know, basic is not very good for graphical stuff. If plan to use stick figures or a few pixels/fonts to represent thing then it may work, though you can actually get some decent sprite work if proper asm tools are used.

for one... I'm planning on using ascii graphics instesd of acual graphics... (i'm sic of them right now) also the levels are really big strings made from another program... so the levels scroll seamlessly and load instantaniolsy ( <- that is spelled wrong...)

Well, if that's the case then it wouldn't be that bad. Back in the days when I used to code basic for 83 I made an ASCII Lode Runner game which had all the feats from the original game and even had scrolling levels. Framerate was also decent and it allowed for up to 8 enemies. Tho, 8 enemies showed a visible slowdown. After that me and Paul have come up with asm Lode Runner that you now see in my program list. Either way, if you use those asm tools in your basic game you can achieve much greater results which could in turn make your game more popular. But hey, this is your choice. Do what you think is best for you and your game.

Just make a few checking "if" routines:

If the enemy is up, move down... etc.
Add gravity too, same whay as your character.

I DLed Lode Runner Z and I have it on my calc, but I can't figure out how to win. I can get enemies into ditches and I collect all the coins but I still don't win. Am I just stupid or is the game trippy?

Once you get all the gold, a ladder will appear somewhere at the top of a map that'll take you to a warp leading to next level. Btw, if you get to play the 83 version, its much much better because latest version was never ported to 83+.

Okay... I fixed something that was bugging me... now you can use "<-", "2nd", or "ENTER" to jump...

Also I have recived 3 levels so far... and one is really neat! the end is acually in the middle!

Okay... Jc pointed out that the game is slow... That is only true when you gat towards the middle/end of a level due to the size of the string... So I'm re-hauling the game engine to allow faster gameplay and to possibly allow for a SE virsion.
