I have a TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator, yesterday I tried to update my OS version from 2.21 to 2.40.
When the OS was being updated, suddenly it said error, and the USB device is not recognized anymore and cannot be used.
I have tried replugging it in several times, and it doesn't work. Now my calculator is stuck in this state with the message:

Waiting...

Please install operating system now.

So I cannot RAM clear or clear everything. This is really urgent and I really need your guys help.

You could try pulling a battery, if that becomes necessary.

I tried pulling all batteries and even the silver oxide battery!

Can this be caused by low batteries? Or is my calculator toast already, it is stuck in a status of updating OS, so theoretically I have half an OS, which I cannot get out of

Whoa. Wait, you mean when you pull all the batteries it still says that on the screen? But the fact that you only have half on OS on it can definitely screw things up. I've got an mp3 player with half an OS, and a hard drive with part of Windows 98 on it, and they are both garbage. Sorry, but if this is the case, chances are, it's screwed.

check the FAQ I think that their is something that you can do. hopefully TI took into account that it is possible for a battery powered device to die during an os transfer. ryantmer, why can't you wipe your HD and put a new os on it?

I've tried running right from the CD by setting up the BIOS, but it ignores the CD... stupid Microsoft...

Actually, upon thinking about this a bit more, I actually have two like this, one of which needs a product key that I don't have, and the other one is just toast because it was out of the case when I was doing this and I bumped it. Stupid, I know, but it was only a 4GB from about 8 years ago anyway.

I had the exact same problem occur.
The problem was that your computer may have gone into sleep mode, and that interrupted the download. You could have just restarted the download using the OS downloader ant it should have worked.

if you are using TI|connect

find your "program files" then "ti education" then "ticonnect"
then in one of the folders is "TI OS DOWNLOADER"
pull out your battries then replace them,
then start the download:
if it still dos't work invalid OS!

WOAH, hold on now!

smb130: I'm assuming that you mean you get an "Access denied" message when you try to send something to your calc? Generally, an "Access denied" message can be fixed by unplugging the calc, rebooting your computer and then trying again. No need to reinstall your OS...
