a) Please be more specific, I can hardly tell what you are talking about. "Apps call problem"? Does that mean she gets an error when she runs an app, or what?
b) If all else fails, you can always do a hard reset of all the memory (2nd -> mem -> reset -> all -> yes)

And how is it a virus. I have only ever seen one calculator virus, and it is an ASM program, not an app.

I would like to see this app that is a virus if you can e-mail it to me at Zachary940@netscape.net. Any way to answer your question you could just go a dellete the app from the memory menue or u can do what Lunchbox suggested and do a total resset of your calculator.

There are no apps for an 83, they have no archives. 83+ and 84+ use the same apps, so there will be no problems between them.

i know this problem. i know the guy who "originally" found it. he said his friend made a "awsome game", but needed a library called "prob" cuz the name of the prgm was Problem in Detroit. he later found out the problem you now have. i never got the "game" and refused to get it, and now im happy i didnt. this was 5 or so years ago. idk the kid really, or his friend. thats all i know, sorry. it never came off his calc. he just got a new one.

You could also try pressing "Mode, Alpha , and LN". This resets the memory as well.

I would go with threefingeredguy at first. Also if this is an ASM prgm witch it sounds like it is then there has to be a way for another ASM prgm to fix this. All a virus is is a prgm, and if some one could decompile the app using basic builder or another decompiler and then open the prgm to see the code for it then a ASM programmer might be able to fix it.

What I am saying is decompile the app all the way down to the bassic code for the program or programes that are inside then study the code and create a program to conteract this virus.

Srry thinking out loud.

Any way i would try a forced os send if that doesn't work I would try to send the OS then as it is trying to send remove the batteries. (note: this is crazy but my battries died once while updating my OS and the calculator basicaly was reborn once the OS finnished downloading, BE VERY CAREFULL I WOULD ONLY DO THIS AS A LAST RESORT!!!) then disconnect the calculator from the pc then replace the batteries, trun the calc on you should get a message saying that no os is detected or some thing like that. Then try uploading the OS from your PC agian.

To every one who thinks I am crazy now
your right. I do crazy things to computers and I am not always succsessfull.

I do not recommend what I have said and would never do it to any ones calculator other than mine and I would only do this if I had no choice. But the decompile thing that I mentioned I belive is a good idea to try.

I also think that we as a calculator community should work together to solve this problem and do every thing that we can to prevent this from happing agian.

If you can e-mail the app to me at Zachary940@netscape.net I wnt to play around with it and learn from it.

I have typed WAY too much and I hope I have helped,
Zachary Redmon (Zachary940)

As far as I know it does CoffmanRunner, but I haven't tryed it.

Lemmings Rule! I had never seen that before I plays almost exactly like the original. However, less parts fly when you have to blow up a lemming. :)

Zachary, not all apps are made in basicbuilder. In fact, most are written in ASM.

well, even if you cant use basicbuilder to decode it, do it the way you would with a ASM. im not that fluent with ASM *actually not at all*, im sure its possible, rite?

If you can successfully send an OS to your calculator, then do this:

1) Start sending an OS to your calculator.
2) When it starts to show a percent completed, press [ON] and [MODE] a-plenty. Press them one after the other, quickly, repeatedly, and mercilessly until it says "Testing Flash".
3) When it starts to count up from 0, wait for it to reach 5 and remove a battery.
4) Put the battery back in and install the OS normally.

This should erase EVERYTHING in the flash memory and ram. It'll also free up a lot of archive space. I forget where I learned this. A website, I think...

If that doesn't work, try removing the lithium battery. If the app's still there, you can't do much.

You can't really decompile asm because it's hard to tell which parts are code and which parts are raw data.
