And yeah, good forum manners is to edit your post if it is within 24 hours of a previous. otherwise, double posting after 24 hours is usually acceptable.

I've been watching this program unfold for what feels like two years and I have to say it has come along quite nicely.

Pokemon has been in progress since Sept of 05. It has been around for a long, long time already. :P

As of now, working on random bits of code.. definitely not gonna make a great demo release available by Christmas, but I might release it in it's current state. Give ya'll something to play with.

Well it has been a while. I got fed up with the bug, so I simply removed the line by line display for the dialogue. Now things work well again ^^

I have been working on making a dynamic hp restorer. This way, I don't need to write LP1(2->LP1(1 etc etc over and over. The program works like it should, but celtic 2 is not doing what it should, for some reason. not sure what is up with it yet, but we are attempting to figure it out.

ZOMG! PROGRESS!!!!! :O

I managed to get all the sprites "fixed" inside the actual data, now I am optimizing/compressing the data, again. This should not take overly long, as long as "certain things" don't distract me. :P

Anywho, once this is done, the basic pokedex program should see an update, at the very least. :)

I am up to #60 in sprites being recompressed. Will hopefully have these completed by this weekend. Then time to drag out the ti-keyboard and type them all into the calc. Should be no big deal..

I finished the sprite compression!! ^_^

On a side note, I got the calc convertor working completely. The only adjustment that needs to be made is to remove the very last 'G' because it is not needed. (super simple though, 10 seconds to fix) The next step is to make it go through all 151 sprites by itself, and paste the code code to the appropriate programs. That should be the hardest part right there... Thinkin bout breakin out yet another 83+, copy these files to it, and testing it there... If nothing else, copy to the PC, and begin testing again... I think I will do that.

Well, I have it currently set up to write the code to the programs for me, though I have run into a slight problem. It refuses to go past the first sprite.. I hope to have this figured out sometime tonight. :)

Ok... since this is sort of off the wall, though still part of pokemon.. and is following the line of the sprite compressing.. :p

http://tifreakware.net/tifreak8x/pokemon/spritecompressor.zip

I decided to just have the calc do all the work for me, save me the trouble.. even after going through them all and placing them on paper, and leaving mistakes... :p

I believe that all bugs have been killed in this... Please check it out, see what you think, and see if you happen to stumble across any bugs. :D

Got the pokedex updated on the front page, yay. I managed to get a total of 8k shaved off the final size. I am NOT working on the pokemon sprites from this point on. I am done with them, and this is how they will appear in the game. :P

Anyways, I have just finished converting the list of TM/HM that pokemon can learn, and am now working on putting that in the calc. Should keep me busy for a couple days..

The lists was finished on Friday.. The calc now contains all the TM and HM learnables.

I spent some time working on the saving system. So far, it all seems to work. Only problem is, I am uncertain if it does until more of the game is in place, and more of it matters.

I have all the attack lists put to paper, will begin working on putting them into the calculator. That should not take long, as they are 5 element lists.. and there are only 165 of them...

I finally got the start of it going now. The random encounter system has been started. At this moment, the data to cause random encounters is simply stored when it looks for which map program to run. That will of course change once I get a working battle engine, etc. Anyways, a screenshot for your enjoyment:

Stat Generation will be next.

Hmm... updates... Let's see...

I got random encounters working

I got stat generation working

I had it giving the attacks to the pokemon, however, some of the optimizations on UnitedTI kinda broke it, so I am starting from the original code and reworking to where I was.

I did some severe optimizing, like combining all the pokemon sprite data into one program, and such, and removed all the If statements. Doing this for a great deal of the data program has shaved off over 5k in memory usage, and brought the program count down to 55 or so. :)

Once I finish going over AOD86, I will resume work on integrating the new data system into the game.

Hey tifreak8x can you tell me where I can get the form of Zlist your using I've looked a lot of places and the only one I've found is used to display a list of your programs. What I need is something you can use to put a number into a string, inside a program. Specifically the number in question would be already in "Z".

The only suggestion I would have is doing something like:

{Z,Z

Have ZLIST change that to a string, then you can find the position of the , utilizing InString(, and add one from there, and do a sub(Str,#,length(Str

I could come up with something if you needed... It would not take very long to code.

Well, I managed to get some other programs done and taken care of, so now that that is out of the way, I am back on this.

As of this moment, I am completely redoing the pokedex system, to deal with the changes in how the data is stored on the calc. As of now, I am working exclusively on getting the information to display, then, I will see about getting the information to "scroll", and then I will see about posting up a screenshot :)

This is the newest pokedex system. At least, in progress...

The one on the left is optimized, and the structure of the program changed slightly. I hope you can tell the difference in speed between the two of them...

Anyways, here be important stuff for you all. I have gotten random encounters to 100% !!!!!!1111oneeleven You have no idea how happy I am to have that done and over with, after pitting myself against it for over 2 hours today. But, enough babbling. You want a screenshot, I am sure...

What battle system? Oh! You mean this:

:D

Of course, I am just using the enemy data to populate the screen and information right now. The next thing to do is begin with the events system, so you can even get your first pokemon to start battling. But it is still progress. ^_^

Is the way it looked on the gameboy game. :D

simply amazing TI. You're really outdoing yourself in this. You've seiruosly come a long way from wence this started.
and idk why the .gif's are so slow here, i KNOW they weren't this slow at home, so i can't tell whats going on with the speed, but i trust that its faster and better, and just plain awesome.
gratz ti. =D

also is there a current demo out yet with all of this? or when will this be updated in a demo?

Well, I was chatting with benryves on efnet IRC and he offered to create an asm program to display pokemon sprites faster. This is its ONLY PURPOSE!!!! This way, it gets the nay-sayers off my back. :P

Anyways, working on getting an event system set up on paper...
