All you did, Hydralisk, was this.

Hydralisk: So firefox does red underlines now.

Mr. Totally Amazing (me): Safari has done that since it was created (in fact every OSX application has the capacity because of the OS's built-in spell-checker) and Opera has had that plugin for at least 2 years.

Hydralisk: Ya well minefield does that now.

edit-by H-taking me outta context, buddy. just stating that their doing it now.

Repeating a statement doesn't reinforce anything. Move on to a better argument, possibly one that has a chance of making firefox seem better. As of now, I view IE as the browser for old people, Firefox for godlike people who are computer literate, Opera for people who like their browser to fast, safe, and good looking, and Safari is for cool people who have way too much money.

Edit by L: :D

Opera is also for people who have been using the World Wide Web for more than 5 years and remember the Netscape-IE wars, and chose to not be involved with them.

I think I've been using Opera since Opera 4, if that tells you anything. I had the ads and I dealt with them, they only bothered me when I got noisy ads, and that only happened once or twice (they quickly got rid of them). I was this --><-- close to paying for it (finally had money), but then it went free. :)

Considering IE is the default browser that you get when you get the computer, you would seriously have to be a lame, lazy, or ignarant juvi not to dl either firefox or Opera...

...which Opera does seem to be the best out of the two...
...firefox continues to crash...damn fox....

Actualy I've found that Opera crashes on specific sites, like slashdot.org (although that is probably just this computer), but it comes up with the "continue from last time" option, which is a great feature.

I love Continue from previous session. It doesn't crash on me too often, I think the only crash in Opera 9 has been the bittorrent client -- but I intentionally kill Opera off sometimes to reclaim the RAM and have it remember where I was, so I can go play a game quick then go back to what I was looking at. I routinely leave tabs (which Opera has had since I first used it some 6+ years ago) open for hours or days, as a reminder to go do something.

Yeah, I left a tab open for this game I want to buy for about 4 days. It crashed for one site which worked when I continued.

Yes.. minefeild is being gay... it crashed too many times for me...

anyways...

i talkd to my dad, and it seems it turns out it is his job for the past 15 or so years to work specially with all browsers, and he talkd to me more about them... i found out more about them than i needed to hear for the next couple years... anyways... he basically said opera is nice, but not even close to the best. FireFox is the most stable and reliable browser b/c of the language it is writen in which allows it to complet more things with less effort, and stuff like that.... he also said some other stuf that i didnt understand... too high tech... but he basically said to 3fg that he is a very ignarant inividual who has no understanding about computers and their language, and should get off the Mac and Safari cuz they a waste of effort and time. oh, btw the name of the programing language for Firefox is Geko-*something*. meh =/

I'm an assembly programmer (for PCs as well). I have a very thorough understanding of the way a computer and its languages work. Opera is faster and much less susceptible to malicious people because its source is not freely distributed. The Mac OS is built off of Unix and is consequently very awesome. Safari is the greatest browser I have ever used.

Edit by L: 3fg's dumbass comment has been commented out.

The *language* FF is written in is C (perhaps C++). The *engine* it is based on is Gecko. It's a nice engine, but the engine Opera uses is nicer. Opera passes the Acid2 test. Firefox (or anything Gecko-based for that matter) does not.

Guess what? I declare firefox better than all other browsers, and it is so. Amazing how it works, isn't it? This topic is officially over, I just proved you all wrong through circular logic and arbitrary reasoning. Game Set Match.

Liebe ist Krieg: Until you give me substantial, verifyable evidence, I have no reason to believe your claim, and even then most "gurus" don't know as much as they think (which is why I never claim to be a guru of anything). About the only such proof I would believe at this point would be either a phone call from a well-known company's phone number (preferably from one of their well-known figureheads) or an e-mail easily traceable via headers from said company. Until that happens, I don't care what you claim, it will mean nothing more (at least on the "my dad knows this he does it for a living STFU" front) than if, say, 3fg said it. (I had to type that twice as I accidentally closed the tab. :-/)

As for Firefox, read http://kvince83.tengun.net/maxboard/viewtopic.php?p=48009#48009 and the post after it. Opera is MUCH better on RAM usage than Firefox. That said, Firefox has a few uses for me, but not many.
